      DETAILED ITINERARY:
       
     

    Day 1: Lima
    Upon arrival, our representatives will meet and escort you to your hotel.

    Day 2: Lima
    Breakfast. Start with a panoramic city tour of Colonial Lima, including a visit to the Main Square, located in the heart of downtown to view the Government Palace, the Town Hall, the Bishop's Palace with its beautiful balconies and the Cathedral of Lima, where you will visit inside. Its outstanding features are the choirstalls, the Churrigueresque Chapel of the Immaculate, the main altar and a Christ made of carved ivory. On the right is the crypt with remains of conqueror Francisco Pizarro. You will pass by the church and convent of San Francisco, considered to be the most important religious monument of Lima, built in 1542 in Baroque style and consecrated in 1673. Your drive through Lima will pass by several Colonial squares, churches and mansions, then you will continue to the Modern Districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, for a glimpse of life in this huge city, as well as its beautiful parks, modern buildings and great ocean views.(B)

    Day 3: Lima – Puerto Maldonado - Corto Maltes Lodge
    Breakfast. At indicated time transfers to the airport fly to Puerto Maldonado. Upon Arrival reception at Padre Almirez International airport. Here your professional guide will await you. He will accompany you throughout your stay. From there we will go to our office to obtain the official waterway permits (you can also guard luggage you won't need during your stay). Meanwhile you can visit the town's main square and also take some photos of the beautiful scenery overlooking the confluence of the rivers Madre de Dios and Tambopata from Grau square. Embarkation will be at Capitania port, the destination being our lodge. We will navigate approximately 40 minutes on the Madre de Dios River in a typical Amazonian boat. Arrival at the Corto Maltes Amazonia Lodge. Here we will have a welcome cocktail. Afterwards you will be handed over the keys to your bungalow and we will have lunch. The kitchen of our Lodge stands out for the beautiful presentation and the exquisite tastes of the dishes prepared by our French chef. After that you will have some free time to get comfortable in your bungalow, or take a refreshing dip in our pool. 3:30pm: It gets time to have some first contact with the jungle. On this trek you will see a large variety of tropical trees, medicinal plants, insects, butterflies and other animals. Upon return we will make a small stop at a lookout. Here you can observe toucans, macaws and other species of birds upon your return for sunset. (Duration: between 2,5 and 3 hours) Returning to the lodge you can take a refreshing dip in the pool or have an exotic cocktail in our terrace- bar. You could also watch the sunset in the relaxing, tranquility of palm and mango trees at our port. 7pm: Before dinner we will go on a nightly boat trip, a little safari trying to spot the white caiman (caiman crocodilus) that lives in the river banks. 8pm: After the delicious dinner, those who wish can have some Smalltalk in our reclining seats or have some fun and make friends with other travelers in the bar. Another option is to take a bath in the pool (with bar) under the shining Amazon sky and marvel at the Cross of the South

    Day 4: Puerto Maldonado - Corto Maltes Lodge
    At 5:30am we will go on a trek of about 20 min until we arrive at the parrot clay- lick. Here a minimum of five different species feeds on special clay, vital to their metabolism. It's a truly marvelous, multicolored spectacle. 8am: Breakfast and free time to explore the splendid gardens of Corto Maltes Amazonia. We have dozens of varieties of exotic plants and flowering trees. 10:30am: Again we will navigate the Madre de Dios River. This time on an expedition destined to "Monkey Island" where some species of these interesting and entertaining animals live in freedom. Following another boat ride of 30 min we will enter the territory of the Tambopata- Candamo National Reserve. We will trek 5km through the dense vegetation of the tropical rainforest. Giant trees, snakes, monkeys, birds and sometimes even the illusive jaguar can be observed here Our destination is heavenly Sandoval Lake. Its privileged settings are shared by numerous species of animals: Birds (in particular Hoatzins, Kingfisher, and Cormorants), different species of monkeys (Squirrel monkeys, Howler monkeys, Capuchin monkeys). At the lake itself we can enjoy the spectacle of Giant River Otters. Black Caimans and Piranhas (sometimes we can even observe anacondas in the areas covered by reed). This is also the habitat of the giant Arapaima, a fish of more than 2,5m, weighing in at +200kg. Traveling by canoe, the sunset in the lake is a spectacular unforgettable sight. On our return to the river we might be able to spot some nocturnal animals. 8pm: The body demands rest and food after an active day in the jungle. You will enjoy the exotic tastes of our meals, especially our desserts. If you still have energy left you can share moments of music and conversation in the bar whilst having a cocktail or enjoy the sounds of the rainforest surrounding you from your hammock. After a long day full of activity you will enjoy the comfort of you bungalows hammocks. You can also recover with a massage by the lodges' qualified masseurs.

    Day 5: Puerto Maldonado - Cusco 

    After breakfast its time to say goodbye to the setting and staff of Corto Maltes Amazonia. Your guide will accompany you on your way back to the city. We will pass by our office again to recollect the baggage left. Following that we will visit the local market to show you agricultural products of the region; especially fruits of the Amazon. Afterwards our personnel will accompany you at the airport prior to your departure for Cusco.Upon arrival our representatives will meet and escort you to your hotel.Take the remainder of the morning to nap or relax as you adjust to Cusco high altitude. 

    Day 6:
     Cusco 

    Breakfast. Morning at leisure.
    In the afternoon your guided tour of the Inca Royal City of Cusco starts in the very impressionable Plaza de Armas, which is surrounded by a beautiful stone arcade. In the Plaza is the Cathedral, with outside façade in Renaissance style is in contrast to its Baroque and plateresque style of its interiors. The Covent of Santo Domingo was built above the most important Inca Temple, the Temple of the Sun, or Koricancha. Near the City of Cusco, you will visit the Inca Fortress Sacsayhuaman, made up of three gigantic terraces, superimposed in a zigzag form. Qenqo, was a religious centre formed by a singular flowering of calcareous rock. It has underground galleries and a semicircular amphitheatre with a series of stone seats. Nearby is Tambomachay, well known as Baths of the Incas, a place dedicated to the cult of the water, formed by aqueducts, channels and small cascades worked in the rock. Tour Starts at 1:00PM. Duration: 4 Hours 


    Day 7:  Cusco – Sacred Valley & Pisac - Cusco

    After breakfast, morning departure for a drive through the fertile countryside to the colonial village of Pisac, located at the beginning of the Sacred Valley of the Incas it is 31 km from the City of Cusco and famous for its Sunday market fairs, where the tourists can mix with the people dressed in their colorful traditional cloths, each being unique to the remote village from where they come to sell their goods, and exchange local gossip. During your visit to the bustling marketplace you will have the opportunity to bargain with the natives for many different types of Peruvian handicrafts and jewelry. It is also a well-known archaeological spot known as "the Old Village" and is located on the sides of a hill dominates the river Vilcanota with splendid old forts, esplanades and temples. After lunch the tour continues to the village of Ollantaytambo, located 97 km from the City of Cusco for a visit to its impressive Inca fortress. This village has preserved the Inca style in the layout of its streets, squares, walls and the construction of houses. The town is flanked by an impressive fortress that was an integral part defense system of the Sacred Valley. At the entrance to the Fortress there is a steep stairway of sheer stone, and once you reach the summit two esplanades can be seen. In the afternoon , return to the hotel in Cusco (Fixed departures Tue, Thu and Sunday). Duration: 9 Hours

    Day 8: Cusco - Machu Pichu - Cusco
    After breakfast, you are picked up from you hotel very early in the morning and transported to the train station. Departure to Aguas Calientes, located 120 km from the City of Cusco and after 3 hour train trip you arrive to of Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Machu Picchu complex which is an extraordinary combination of remarkable architecture and unforgettable scenery. After arrival in Aguas Calientes bus station you are transported by bus to the Citadelle, which is located on the top of a steep mountain that dominates the deep Canyon formed by the passing the Urubamba river and whose sides are so sheer that the ancient buildings of Machu Picchu City Complex cannot be seen from the bottom of the mountain. Then you will have your guided visit for 3 hrs aprox. Machu Picchu is also called "The Lost City of the Incas." It was planned and constructed in two distinct areas, the agricultural one formed by the cultivation terraces or platforms and located in the precipitous hillside of the mountain, and the urban area, where Machu Picchu inhabitants lived. In the high part, a line separates the agricultural and urban areas. In the urban sector, you can observe two very well defined: civil engineering works. One is the residential neighborhoods, and the other water canal systems. Both constructions did not reach the same perfection in their finishing as the buildings of the Sacred Valley (temples, mausoleums, squares, real houses). Here it is very common to see the use of the trapezoidal window and of niches where they deposited their idols as well as the prevalence of the rectangular constructions of a single floor. After lunch you have time at leisure before to return to Cusco (or to your hotel in Aguas Calientes ) Arrival in Cusco and transfer to your hotel. Duration: 12 Hours approx.

    Day  9: Cusco -USA

    Breakfast. Our representative will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the airport to take your flight at the indicated time.
