Day 1 : US - Guatemala City - Antigua City
Upon arrival our representative will meet and greet you , following Guatemala city tour visiting The Avenida de la Reforma & Historic City Center;After Lunch transfers to Antigua , city of immense cultural and historic value. (45 minutes ride).The afternoon at 6 pm Walking City of Antigua to appreciate and experience the making of Sawdust carpets (Spanish: tapetes de aserrín) are one or more layers of colored sawdust, and ... part of Holy Week celebration, especially to welcome Good Friday and Easter processions of religious icons carried through the streets. After Dinner you will be part by participating on the elaboration of these carpets.
Overnight at Hotel Las Farolas or similar.
Day 2: Antigua City
Breakfast. Today its all about enjoying the Easter local celebrations and processions of religious icons .You will witness throughout the whole Town of Antigua .Lunch at at typical restaurant , Live Marimba Music. Overnight & dinner at your hotel.
Day 3: Antigua City
Breakfast. This morning you will tour the city and admire Antiguas gilded cathedrals. Once the capital of Guatemala and all Central America, Antigua resembles a living ruin. Mammoth churches and palaces tell the story of Antiguas past glory, and restored facades speak of a bright future for this wonderful city. Antigua lies at the base of three majestic volcanoes, cobblestone streets and the picturesque ruins of monasteries destroyed by earthquakes. On this tour you will also visit the Central Plaza with the Cathedral and the Palace of the Captains, the ruins of the Convent Capuchinas, La Merced Church, the arch of Santa Catalina, Jade Factory and many other historical monuments. Lunch, In the afternoon you will have a visit to San Cristobal from where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the city . Dinner at Casa Santo Domingo Hotel . Overnight at Las Farolas or similar hotel
Day 4: Antigua City - Lake Atitlan - Chichicastenango Market
Breakfast. Early this morning you tour begins with a visit to the famous market of Chichicastenango. This beautiful Mayan town, surrounded by valleys and shadowed by mountains, has many shamanistic and ceremonial overtones. Its large market brings villagers from throughout the region, who often arrive the night before and sleep on blankets in the market square. Rising early, they set out their colorful fruits, vegetables and handicrafts. The market disperses in the early afternoon and you will travel to the shores of beautiful Lake Atitlan, a deep caldera lake flanked by three majestic volcanoes. In Lake Atitlan you will enjoy a boat ride and visit to one of the towns surrounding the lake. A passenger boat takes us across the azure-colored water to our charming lodge in the village of Santiago Atitlan. Dinner at a local Restaurant and overnight at Hotel Dos Mundos or Similar hotel .
Day 5: Lake Atitlan - Guatemala City
Breakfast. This morning you will enjoy a boat ride and visit 3 of the surrounding towns around the lake. Villagers in Santiago Atitlan still adhere to the traditional lifestyle of the Tzutuhil Maya and youll see many people cloaked in brightly-colored, handwoven clothing. Along Santiagos main street are art galleries filled with oil paintings depicting busy market scenes and typical life in the highlands. Lake Atitlán is surrounded by many colorful Villages. Each Village has a dress with a special design and pattern. Panajachel is the most important village of the area, and therefore most of the hotels, restaurants, discotheques and stores are located there. Many of the villages can be visited by boat , but this time we will be visiting 3 towns. Lunch at a local Restaurant and transfers to Guatemala City. Dinner & Overnight at Hotel Stofella or similar.
Day 6: Guatemala City - Flores - Yaxha National Park
Very early morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Flores. Upon arrival transfer to The Classic Maya sites of Yaxhá, Nakum and El Naranjo form a triangle that is the basis for a national park covering more than 37,000 hectares and bordering the Parque Nacional Tikal to the west. Yaxhá, the most visited of the trio, stands on a hill between two sizable lakes, Lago Yaxhá and Lago Sacnab. Lunch and return to Flores Town where you will explore the Island. Dinner and Overnight at La Casona de La Isla hotel.
Day 7: Flores - Tikal National Park - Guatemala City
Breakfast. This morning depart for a visit to the most impressive and important Maya site and its natural surroundings, the magnificent Tikal Ruins situated in the steamy jungles of the El Peten region, which main attraction is Tikal National Park. You’ll be transferred to the local airport for your flight to Flores and transfer to the ruins. Tikals towering pyramids rise above the thick jungle canopy like stoic sentinels of ancient mysteries. The ancient Maya began building Tikal around 600 B.C., and for the next 1500 years the area was an important religious, scientific, and political center. The ruins of Tikal include more than 3,000 structures extending over six square miles and including palaces, temples, ceremonial platforms, ball courts, terraces, plazas, avenues and steam baths. The pristine forest engulfing the ruined city is home to howler and spider monkeys, white lipped peccary, brocket deer, coati-mundis, toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, ocelots and the seldom seen jaguar. Lunch will be served in the park. In the afternoon transfer the airport for your flight to Guatemala city where you will spend your last night. Farewell Dinner and Overnight at Hotel Stofella or Similar
Day 8: Guatemala City - USA
Breakfast. At indicated Time Transfers to the Airport. |
